This project represents the harakeke.  The tui on the harakeke is what we want our children to fly away with when they leave TPS.  We learnt about the harakeke because it is part of our school vision and this is what we believe in at Te Papapa School.

Writing paragraphs by James Duffy

To Mrs Curry and Mum
My learning was to make a paragraph. To make a paragragraph you will need a topic sentence, a detail and a detail.
Here is my paragraph.

The tsunami flooded japan in the afternoon. People ran away as the tsunami approached. The civilians were panicking as they drove away getting to high ground to be safe. Cars speed away, zig zagging through other cars to get away faster than everyone else. The civilians in the destroyed cities were left with homeless, jobless and scared about how they might survive.

Tapa art for Uike Lea-Faka Tonga 2014

For Tongan language week we there was an art competition and each class had to create a tapa of their own. In room 8 we decided to use traditional tapa patterns but incorporated with modern colours.

First we drew the patterns that we wanted then using a craft knife we cut out our patterns from cardboard to make a stencil. After that we blended colours using sponges on black paper to create our tapa patterns.
